The context
As DRC’s Country Information Management Specialist / Profiling Coordinator, I supported EU SPADS in Sokoto in close collaboration with JIPS in Geneva. The work connected IDP and host-community profiling, livelihoods evidence, geospatial planning and community-led local action plans.
My contribution
- EU SPADS profiling and geospatial planning. Worked closely with the Joint IDP Profiling Service (JIPS) team in Geneva on the European Union Support for Protection, Assistance and Durable Solutions (EU SPADS) project. Mapped IDP locations across Sokoto North and Sokoto South and enumeration areas across the local government areas of Sokoto Town.
- Survey design and field-team leadership. Supported durable-solutions survey tools and training manuals. Trained, coordinated and led supervision of 30 enumerators, working with National Bureau of Statistics and Sokoto Bureau of Statistics staff. Supported analysis and development of the final report.
- Community-led local action plans. Supported development and coordination of local action plans with community chiefs and local actors, linking profiling findings with durable-solutions planning.
- Livelihoods and programme tools. Designed the EU SPADS livelihood team’s labour-market assessment, savings and investment association, and graduation-criteria assessment tools, alongside programmatic dashboards. Developed humanitarian tools across sectors for FCDO-funded projects and supported GERF and MSF project information needs.
- MPCA targeting and cash-platform coordination. Developed profiling tools with automated scoring criteria to support timely identification of households for multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA). Worked closely with the cash specialist and programme team to link beneficiaries to the NAGIS Cash platform.
What the work produced
IDP location maps and enumeration-area mapping; durable-solutions survey tools and training manuals; coordinated fieldwork; livelihood assessment tools and dashboards; automated profiling scores; local action plans developed with community actors; and contributions to the final report.
